Bakery Bar makes amazing and unique custom cakes that really do taste as good as they look.

We also have a retail café serving:

• Coffee & espresso with beans from Stumptown
• Breakfast pastries - most notably our scones (Apple-Bacon is the overwhelming favorite)
• Breakfast sandwiches & full breakfasts
• Lunch
• Cocktails

• Everything is house-made.
• We even make our own pastrami.
• We have a great outdoor seating area with covered tables and a container garden
• It's a great space and available to rent for parties and events
• We show the FIFA World Cup when it runs every four years

How & Why
Bakery Bar originally began as a clever idea to bridge two fairly different businesses in the same space - a wholesale & retail cake shop in front during the day and a pub/bar in an adjoining or back room in the evenings. We never found an affordable space to make the original concept fly, but we opened in 2005 and ended up creating a successful and fairly diverse business. Cakes were first and then we added coffee, breakfast pastries, and lunch. We opened a 2nd shop in 2008 to expand the cake business and ended up adding breakfast/brunch. Our first location on SE Water Ave was sold and closed on March 2, 2010.
